After school club in danger of closing
Numbers attending The Ysgol y Ddwylan primary after school club have dropped to such an extent that it is in danger of closing, according to its play leader. This will also affect holiday clubs, which some of us depend on during the school holidays.
Leaflets were recently being handing out to notify people that numbers have now dropped to such an extent that the play leader may have to discontinue it as it’s costing too much to staff. If numbers haven’t picked up by Feb half-term, they won’t restart it.
Sue Tabbitt, a working parent whose clild attends the club said:
“It would be a great shame if we lost this valuable and highly cost-effective service which enables parents like me to work.”
The current arrangement is:
3.20pm – 5.55pm Monday to Thursday for anyone registered (just fill in a simple registration form)
£5.50 per session, including snack (toast/ham or cheese toasties, plus squash)
The holiday clubs are open to any children (not just from Ysgol y Ddwylan). It is thought that a lack of publicity is partly to blame for low and falling attendance.
