Returning to your Roots
Summary
‘Returning to your Roots’ is a concept to engage residents, former residents, and descendants of residents of a locality to come together to celebrate their shared history. Based on a single weekend, a wide variety of celebratory events would take place engaging the whole population and providing a focus for incoming visitors. We envisage this as a prototype event which could subsequently be rolled out around Wales.
Objectives
- Encourage places of worship in the town to engage with the community
- Attract incoming tourism from UK and internationally
- Support community cohesion through generating a sense of pride and shared history
- Provide platform for educational activities (youngsters & adults)
