Landowners arrested trying to keep WAG badger cull surveyors off their land
Masked Welsh Assembly Government Surveyors visited farms in North Pembrokeshire last week to carry out badger set surveys ahead of the planned extermination programme. Some landowners were not happy with giving them access and got arrested.

Video of another stand off between masked Thompson Ecology employees (it would appear recruited from school leavers) and local landowners. The Thompson Ecology website states :
“Thomson Ecology is experienced in badger surveys and badger mitigation. We can help to positively resolve any development issue involving badgers”
Maybe Thompson Ecology has mitigated itself in the foot here….

Have just returned from holiday in Wales. Saw live badgers for the first time ever. Previously had only seen dead ones on side of road. The cull is very wrong where there are other options. Hope the Welsh assembly sees sense. I will forever associate badgers with Wales.
We went there because we were told we would probably see them. There were signs on the coastal path about the possibility of witnessing possible culls.
I do not think this will do much for the tourist industry.
Oh my God !!! These poor landowners – this is absolutely shocking….make no wonder ‘someone’ wanted it removed from youtube ( I would suspect the WAG or the Police – mind you all one and the same to me, controlling, failing systems !!)
What is the point of owning land if you cannot at least control who does or doesn’t come on it, or what goes on within your own boundaries….especially when it is something trying to be enforced that you strongly disagree with !!
I am absolutely stunned by this !!!
WELL DONE FOR REPORTING THIS INCIDENT
I am shocked and disgusted that these ‘killers’ can walk on to private land without the permission of the landowner. This the WAG walking all over the rights of the individual is persuit of a cull which has very spurious legality and validity.
Once again a feckless government using the Police as a politcial tool….What next ? The Troops.
Support The Badger Trust in their work to overthrow this barbaric campaign.
Masked executioners – looking more like terrorists – too cowardly to show their faces. And they are surely terrorists for that is what they will spread throughout the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside with their extermination policy. What the Welsh Assembly still does not grasp is the weight of public opinion against the cull. It does not come from what they would term ‘greenies’ or ‘tree huggers’ but from anyone and everyone with an ounce of intelligence who has been able to read and research the arguments on both sides. That these landowners and occupiers were arrested is beyond cowardly – as is politics masquerading behind police intervention. And we call ourselves a democracy? A demockery is more appropriate. Make no mistake. This is not really about bovine TB and whether cattle catch it from eating grass and drinking water contaminated by badger urine. This is about the EU, money and greed. If you scrape the surface of this ‘debate’, you’ll find the blood and suffering of container loads of live animals being exported to Europe, at the very heart of it. Four legs good. Two legs bad. As George Orwell once wrote.
someone who loves and has holidayed with my family in Pembrokeshire every year for 27 years, I am absolutely and totally opposed and disgusted at the WAG supported badger cull. If this cull goes ahead I will seriously have to think about whether I want to continue holidaying here, and eventually retire here as I had planned to do. The scientific evidence against badgers and bovine TB is weak, and if there are other means available to use, why are they not being used? The first thought always seems to be one of killing – echoes of the previous foot & mouth outbreak ?.
